Named after the serpent king Takshak, this dosh reflects karmic debts and challenges that one must overcome through self-awareness and divine grace.

At Trimbakeshwar, the ancient Jyotirlinga temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, countless devotees perform Kaal Sarp Dosh Puja every year to restore balance and receive spiritual protection. This sacred ritual is believed to pacify the planetary energies causing distress and invite peace, prosperity, and divine blessings.

1. Understanding Takshak Kaal Sarp Dosh

In a horoscope, Takshak Kaal Sarp Dosh occurs when Rahu (the North Node) is positioned in the seventh house, and Ketu (the South Node) is in the first house, with all other planets positioned between them. This alignment symbolizes a karmic imbalance in partnerships, emotions, and self-expression.

The name Takshak originates from the mythological serpent Takshak Nag, known for his powerful and mysterious energy. This dosh often manifests in the form of emotional instability, misunderstandings in relationships, trust issues, and inner restlessness. However, when understood and remedied properly, it also opens the path to profound transformation and spiritual awakening.

2. Astrological Significance of Takshak Kaal Sarp Dosh

The seventh house in astrology governs marriage, partnerships, and social relationships, while the first house represents self, identity, and life direction. Therefore, the placement of Rahu and Ketu in these houses can create a strong internal conflict between personal desires and relationship obligations.

People under the influence of Takshak Kaal Sarp Dosh often struggle to maintain harmony between personal independence and emotional dependency. This dosh may bring success in worldly matters, but it can also cause turbulence in close relationships unless balanced through spiritual practices.

4. Mythological Background of Takshak Nag

According to Hindu mythology, Takshak was one of the most powerful serpent kings who resided in the netherworld (Patala). He is famously known for biting King Parikshit, leading to the king’s death and the origin of the Srimad Bhagavatam teachings.
